Mark and Antoinette Kinney had a good life before Hurricane Katrina. Mark was a teacher and Antoinette was a medical assistant at a hospital, along with their two daughters they had a very comfortable life in New Orleans, Louisiana.
After Katrina took away everything they had, they ended up with Antoinette’s sister in Jacksonville, Florida. CC helped by referring them to resources where they could obtain jobs, housing, clothing and furniture. They received counseling to help them transition from hopelessness to establishing a new life in our community.
Since relocating to Jacksonville, the Kinneys are doing well. Their two girls are attending school in the Duval County School System. Mark is employed and Antoinette is a stay at home mom for now, with a goal of attending nursing school in the near future. |
