#MyCampWhy

We are the proud parents of three children with special needs. Children we willingly adopted, all the while knowing the challenges we would undoubtedly face. But the word challenge isn’t recognized at Camp I Am Special. For one week out of 52, Camp has blessed us with much-needed time to relax and spend with each other. We can do this because we know our children are safe, loved and well-cared for. All their medical, behavioral and adaptive needs are constantly watched over by a loving group of people with a shared passion for helping others. When the last day of Camp arrives, the children cry - they don’t want to leave this beautiful place in the woods. I see and feel love, trust and friendship at Camp I Am Special. Every year as we drive away, we start a countdown until next year’s visit. I thank God for this amazing place that not only knows what my children need, but what we need too.
