Workforce Development Testimonial – Roxanne
Before coming to Jacksonville, Roxanne was living in Aruba. She moved here last March, after deciding that she wanted to be close to her children and grandchildren.
Finding employment was a struggle; she had become unemployed due to an accident that took her left arm and severely damaged her head. Roxanne thought that she would never be able to work again. Looking for help, she visited United Way. They encouraged her to reach out to the Catholic Charities Workforce Development Program.
Still, Roxanne did not think it would be possible for a person who had experienced a life changing amputation to get back into the workforce. But after long consideration and hesitation, she decided to contact Catholic Charities.
Not knowing what to expect, Workforce Development Employment Specialist Haley Jones welcomed her and made the process much easier than she had anticipated. Haley saw something in her, something beyond her disability that she had not seen
in herself in a long time. It was refreshing to Roxanne, to meet someone that believed
in her.
The team at Catholic Charities Workforce Development was kind, professional and extremely encouraging. Because of this program, Roxanne is now back in the healthcare industry as a caregiver, working with the elderly.
Roxanne says that the most important part of the Catholic Charities Workforce Development program was meeting a wonderful team of people who have a passion to help in any situation, to get her back out into the workforce and help make her dreams come true. She is genuinely thankful, specifically for Ida, Haley and Ashlea for the tremendous work they are doing through Catholic Charities Workforce Development.
