Successful New Beginnings for Workforce Client

We love how often our Workforce Development clients are referred to us from our alumni students!

We'd like to share a success story about one of our now successful clients, meet Vonda.

Upon Day one, Vonda was very excited to learn about how workforce development class could transformed her life and her family. During her assessment, Vonda explained that she had 2 children and her only income was through contract work through a temp agency. Vonda had many skills and certifications in the medical field and had a strong desire to transition back into the field, but had a difficult time with landing a job in a field that she truly loves. Vonda was ready for a new beginning.

Vonda completed the October 2019 Catholic Charities Jacksonville Workforce Development Program where she not only sharpened her desired interviewing skills, but she also received a brand new resume and cover letter targeted towards her new career, interview attire, transportation assistance, as well as additional supportive services through the Women’s Giving Alliance.

Vonda also received free CPR training from First Coast CPR, through a partnership with Workforce Development. Vonda was extremely shy during her interview and the mock interviewers helped her shine with confidence. She was able to find it easy to talk about her passion for helping and caring for others. After completing the job readiness class, Vonda faithfully communicated with our Employment Specialist regarding all of her interviews and job applications.

Vonda kept a bright smile and a positive attitude during her time in our program. Less than a month later, Vonda was offered two positions at two different medical facilities making more than she has ever made before. Vonda had been unemployed for almost four months. Her ability to find a job as quickly as she did moved her to tears of gratitude. In her words, "I wouldn’t trade this experience for the world. I’m hired! and she said, thank you for helping me with being so shy. I did so well in my interviews. "

This is just one of the successful stories about how our clients feel after graduating from the Workforce Development Class.
