Catholic Charities Continues Its Mission
REFUGEE RESETTLEMENT
FACILITATING SUCCESSFUL TRANSITIONS INTO THE U.S. FOR INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES
For more than 40 years, Catholic Charities Jacksonville has partnered with the federal government as well as the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) to welcome people fleeing violence and/or persecution.
Refugees who are invited into the U.S. are grateful to escape, but even after overcoming challenges in their home countries, they still face significant hurdles when they arrive. Catholic Charities Jacksonville’s refugee resettlement program ensures that each refugee family has a safe place to live, furniture, food, and living staples waiting for them when they arrive.
Then, our team picks up refugee families from the airport – serving as their first introduction to our country and our city. After we help them settle into their new home, our team also assists in connecting refugees with core services such as:
-
English language classes
-
Employment services
-
Application for benefits
-
Social security card
-
Health screenings
-
Plus countless wraparound services to help refugees achieve self-sufficiency
