Supporting Our Military Families in Mayport

Yesterday was a remarkable day of community support and gratitude as Mayor Deegan, alongside Military Affairs, the Veterans Department, Feeding Northeast Florida, and other dedicated partners, came together to assist our military families.

The event took place at the Food Farmacy in Mayport, a vital resource dedicated to supporting active-duty military families. Mayor Deegan, along with a team of enthusiastic volunteers, distributed free groceries and pet supplies at the Fleet Reserve Building off Mayport Road. The turnout was a heartwarming testament to our community's commitment to those who serve our country.

Mayor Deegan expressed the collective sentiment of the event, stating, “We will always be grateful for their service and make sure they have the support they need.” This sentiment underscores the ongoing efforts to ensure that military families receive the recognition and assistance they deserve.

About the Food Farmacy Program

The Food Farmacy program is an ongoing initiative designed to provide consistent support to active-duty military families. The program runs twice a month:

  • On the 2nd Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

  • On the 4th Thursday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Active military families simply need to bring a military ID to participate in the program. This ensures that our service members and their families have access to essential supplies, helping to alleviate some of the burdens they may face.

A Community United in Support

The success of this event highlights the power of community collaboration. It’s a reminder of how much we can achieve when we come together for a common cause. The support from various organizations, volunteers, and local government not only provided immediate assistance to military families but also reinforced the message that our community stands behind them.

Looking Forward

As we continue to support our military families, it’s important to remember the ongoing need for community involvement. Whether through volunteering, donations, or simply spreading the word about programs like the Food Farmacy, every bit of support makes a difference.

Thank you to Mayor Deegan, Military Affairs, the Veterans Department, Feeding Northeast Florida, and all the volunteers who made this event possible. Let’s continue to show our gratitude and support for those who serve our country, ensuring they have the resources and recognition they deserve.
