Remembering David O'Byrne

It is with sadness that I inform you that David O’Byrne passed away surrounded by his loved ones.

David loved Catholic Charities and served clients through counseling for over 38 years some who still stay connected to him and thank him for his deep listening and positive encouragement. He was also very active in the Kairos Prison Ministry and served on teams at Baker and Putnam Correctional Institutions for the past 20 years. He also was a volunteer at St. Vincent De Paul in St. Augustine for the past 10 years, serving as President this past year.

David and his wife Nancy O’Byrne were both very passionate about social justice and strongly advocated to eliminate social injustices.


Arrangements for David:


  • Friday, January 13th: 5:30 - 7:30p.m. Wake at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in St. Augustine

  • Saturday, January 14th: 11a.m. Funeral Mass and reception to follow at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in St. Augustine


David requested that no black be worn but rather white or colorful clothing. He also requested instead of flowers, please make a donation to either Catholic Charities of the Diocese of St. Augustine or to Kairos Prison Ministry (Kairos PCI, P.O. Box 3, Orange Park, FL 32067)


Please keep David’s wife Nancy and all family in your prayers as they are entering difficult journey of grief.
